Penelope and Ethan hurt each other emotionally several times in this book. There was a lot of resentment about their breakup even though in my opinion Ethan was immature. He didn’t want to compromise and support what she wanted. He just wanted her to give up her dreams and stay in town with him. Penelope might not have come back if something hadn’t happened to her. When she told Ethan what happened and after the incident in the book I thought she should seek professional help to deal with her struggles now. Their second chance at love is rocky filled with miscommunications and misunderstandings.

Emotion and heartfelt read. 4.5 stars. I enjoyed Ethan and Penelope’s story. I always find second chance romances so bittersweet due to the time lost, but I was so pleased for the HEA for these two lovely people. It was great to get to finally learn Ethan’s story after meeting him in the previous books in this series. I was glad it was a shorter book as I’m not sure I’d have survived too much more angst and miscommunication! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The fourth book in the A McCord Family Novel series a well written short second chance story. Ethan McCord and Penelope Justice parted ways nine years ago when she went off to college and never returned. When they first meet this time they do not get off to a very good start. I enjoyed seeing them get their happy ending even with the arsonist in the town. I want to read the next book. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

About the author

I’m a USA Today Bestselling Author that loves to write contemporary romance and romantic suspense novels, although I am partial to romantic suspense. I even dabble in paranormal. Honestly, I love anything that has to do with romance. As long as there's a happy ending, I'm a happy camper. And insta-love…yes, please! I love baseball (Go Twins!) and creating awesome crafts. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, working in that field for several years before I became a stay-at-home mom. I have a few more amazing stories in the works. Thanks for reading!
