Note: I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review. Abby Manning is the manager for the Flutterby Inn in Butterfly Harbor. When she learns that the Inn is in deep financial distress, she decides to take matters in her own hands by entering into a cooking competition. Unfortunately, her nickname is Five Alarm Manning and it's well earned. Fortunately, however, a handsome chef has just checked in. If he agrees to help her, she might just have a chance at winning and saving the Flutterby. Jason Corwin is beat down and running scared. He feels like he's lost everything that mattered to him. However, when he checks into the hotel, he's greeted by smoke and the fire alarm going off in the kitchen. He'd never planned to enter a kitchen again, yet the pretty young lady hitting the fire alarm to get it to stop might just change his mind. I don't want to say more and give away too much of the plot. Part of what I enjoy with these ARC reviews is the fact that I frequently know nothing about the story I'm about to read. I just trust the author to write something I'll enjoy. And, in this case, the author did not disappoint. This is a fun read. It's got humor, a bad guy, great friends, and just enough intrigue to keep the pages turning. I enjoyed reading about Abby's adventure in the culinary world. It was also nice to read the tried and true plot line where the bad guy gets taken down and the good guys win. I also loved the continued backstory of the other characters. I must admit though that I expected more to come from Simon, but I guess the author had other ideas. Like the author's other book in this series, it also has lessons that we can all learn. Themes covered are - grief, honesty, cheating, and trust in your friends / loved ones. You don't have to always fly solo. There was also the lesson of owning up to your mistakes and admitting when you've been wrong. Romance - PG - kisses only Language - PG / clean My rating - 5 stars

A really great read, even as far-fetched as it is. Abby is a disaster in the kitchen, a real menace so what better idea to save the inn then going a cooking contest. Abby's exploits in the kitchen are hilarious and really make this story enjoyable. Jason, a disgraced professional chef, adds balance to Abby's spontaneity, Ying/yang type play. He balances the book and helps the pages keep turning. The plot us quirky, different and a bit of a stretch, but it keeps you waiting for the next disaster . overall really enjoyed this read. A fun, sweet heartwarming story that you will not be able to put down. Neither Jason or Abby are looking for a relationship but things happen when you least expect them. Both are dealing with family issues, that they are in need of help. Jason, a celebrity chef has arrived to Butterfly Inn for down time when he finds Abby, the innkeeper in a heap of trouble in the kitchen. She needs to come in first place in a cooking contest to save the inn. With a few lessons from Jason can she win the cooking contest. A fun summer read, that will have you drooling for Jason and the wonderful cooking creations.
