Every now and then a book or collection of articles, about cybersecurity comes along that excels for the simple way in which it helps us understand what can be a daunting, complicated and widely misunderstood topic. Back To Basics is that book. Every article, given the diversity of contributors, gives a different perspective. Yet the underlying theme of how important it is to get the basics right pervades. We all know that is true no matter the field - eat right, get enough sleep, exercise, treat others kindly and you'll live a good life; train it well, feed it well, play with it and you'll have a good pet; and on and on. Loved this compilation of real world advice from an incredible group of cybersecurity though leaders. While the focus of each chapter is different, the common theme is that there is no silver bullet when it comes to cybersecurity and focusing on basic blocking and tackling while partnering with the rest of the business is the only path to success. One cool feature of the format is that you can jump in and read any chapter without missing any context. Kudos to everyone involved in this project!
