About this ebook

THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER

‘Immensely gripping...Stayed up till past 2am to finish this’ Sophie Hannah

Four people walked into the dining room that night. One would never leave.

Matthew: the perfect husband.

Titus: the perfect son.

Charlie: the perfect illusion.

Rachel: the perfect stranger.

Charlie didn’t want her at the book club. Matthew wouldn’t listen.

And that’s how Charlie finds himself slumped beside his husband’s body, their son sitting silently at the dinner table, while Rachel calls 999, the bloody knife still gripped in her hand.

Classic crime meets Donna Tartt in this nerve-shredding domestic noir thriller that weaves a sprawling web of secrets around an opulent West London world and the dinner that ends in death.

While reading this one I had the chicken! Luckily my dinner didn’t end in anybody’s murder, but this one sure did and pardon the pun, what a meal the author made of this story. Just to be clear a very fine meal. I found myself wrapped up in the story so tightly that time slipped by without me noticing and I was so deeply engrossed that I missed the dessert! In short, I thoroughly recommend this read, but make sure you finish your meal before the stomach churning murderous mayhem begins. Otherwise you might be put off your dinner!

I very enjoyable book that was so easy to read, the writing really flowed & was easy to follow. Although the characters on the other hand weren't particularly likeable, the story did have a satisfying ending.

plot twist that I didn't see coming, which made it enjoyable at the same pace and Intensity, rather than building up to an ending that was a disappointing let down and general flop, which is often the case with a lot of books. So pleasantly surprised.
