Beautiful age-gap historical romance! Jacob doesn't want to admit his attraction to the much younger, very innocent daughter of his former commander, but Rosaline isn't going to let him get off that easy. I loved how the author showed he admired her as much for her intellect as for her beauty, if not more, and how she used that intellect to both get herself into trouble and out of it. Of course, it's this trouble that forces Jacob's hand when he finds himself coming to her rescue. I love when historical romances remind us that the Dom/sub dynamic is not just a contemporary thing, that this type of relationship has probably existed throughout history. It's not for everyone, but when two people find exactly what they're looking for, even if they can't name it, it's a beautiful thing to see. I loved the way it added depth to Jacob and Rosaline's relationship, and helped him see that she truly was his perfect match. This book had me captivated right from the start and I loved getting lost in its pages. I highly recommend all of this author's books for anyone who enjoys historical romances. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
