After reading the first book I didn't think this series could get better but Brandon provide me wrong. With in depth char progress and a strong connection to them. But also the twists and turns in the book keep you on the edge of your seat and make you want to read more and not put the book down. It is a great read and you could get straight into this book without reading the first one you will just miss most of the back story on the chars. Great work of art by the author.

Continuing the journeys of Kaladin, Shallan and Dalinar in this hefty time, Sanderson delivers yet again with his measurable yet spectacular magic systems and deep characterization. The book is long but necessarily so and doesn't suffer from too much 'padding', rather he follows each character on a personal journey and develops them realistically. Action sequences are intense, suspense is omnipresent and there's even a bit of comedy in there for good measure. Quality and quantity 5 stars!

I really enjoyed The Way of Kings, really getting into the characters. This second install is just an incredible follow up. Rounding out all the characters that had been built up so successfully before. It's pulse pounding, intriguing and funny in equal measures and sections left me smiling broadly in public or on the verge of tears. Everything I could ask of a fantasy read. Brandon Sanderson has created a world so completely unlike our own - this is no middle earth clone - but describes it so well and allows enough insight into the culture therein that it never feels alien. Again I cannot recommend this book enough.
