I have to admit I had some trepidation when starting this. I've never read any of the Hot Jocks books, and I'm usually not a fan of shorter stories. However, I've loved all the Kendall Ryan books I've read so far, so I decided to give this a try. So glad I did. I loved it. It opens with Becca and Owen, a couple from one of the previous books, who now have three kids and another on the way. They are struggling with where they are in life and on the precipice of change with Owen in his career and Becca pregnant. I loved this glimpse into a couple already in love and well into their life together. And her writing captures beautifully the struggle you have with the sometimes messy, tiring and almost too ridiculous to be real moments you can have in your every day life raising kids. It takes serious talent to convey personalities and emotions in such a short story and she does it so well here! It didn't matter that I hadn't read any of the prior books, I was able to follow right along with no confusion at all, and now I can't wait to go back read all of their stories. I also very much enjoyed Preston's short story - it's original in that the typical roles are a bit reversed with Preston very much wanting a serious relationship with Essie, and Essie wanting to just keep things casual. Reading about how they come together and resolve things was a treat. I received an Advance Reader Copy and have voluntarily left and honest review.

The Hot Jocks are back, and Kendall Ryan does not disappoint with a novella that reunites readers with the old guard and introduces the new and I was hooked so much so my plans for the morning went out the window. Furthermore, I loved catching up with Becca, Owen and their growing brood as well as the rest of the gang and their story was perfect and showcased just how chaotic and joyous life becomes when you have children. As for the second story, it was equal parts hot and sweet and again I couldn't put it down but for completely different reasons. And that's what made this book such a delightful read and one I would happily recommend to others.

4.5 Stars for Breaking the Rules ( Hot Jocks #8) This novella gives us a look into the future as we catch up with men with have come to love, in Breaking the Rules we see just where this group of friends and teammates are with their families although this novella is centred around Owen and Becca. This is a book that will tug on many mum’s heartstrings as we see this couple trying to jiggle the kids along with everyday life, it’s a heartfelt story that I adored, it was read in one sitting and it’s a must read for lovers of the Hot Jock Series. Preston’s story has all the feels and I really wanted more from him and Essie. This kind, caring man really deserves to find his soulmate, so is Essie the one…… I love the Hot Jocks Series so for me this was the perfect addition to the series, I loved catching up the characters and after reading this novella I realise it’s time to re-read this wonderful series.
