About this ebook

Enter the Teutonic Fantasy Realm in this enchanting historical fantasy featuring elemental witches and time travel.

“You fool. You have known the glory of the Teuton priest. For the rest of your life, you will want a priest. There is no hope for you now.”

Can’t say I expected this. All I wanted was to take a quick trip to medieval Europe to witness the fall of the Teutons, but a band of warriors attacked me and my travel buddies minutes after we got here. One of them murdered my cousin, and now her boyfriend Joel is heartbroken. And if that wasn’t bad enough, we’ve lost the power to open time’s gateway. That means we’re trapped here, a thousand years in the past.

Now Joel and I have to assimilate with people who sneer at outsiders. They’re suspicious of me, too. Well, most of them are. The city archivist, Augustin von Bayern, has offered to teach me the darker side of magic. Of course he’s the handsomest man in town—and his intelligence tantalizes me in ways I’ve never known. I guess if I’m stuck in the past, I might as well go all in, right?

But it just so happens that Augustin worships a demon in his spare time . . . .

Swanie, thinking she is about to embark on an educational excursion, finds out immediately that several things have gone radically wrong. First, time travel is not an exact science. Second, encountering people of the 11th century is not as simple as dealing with familiar acquaintances from her own era. She finds herself embroiled in a very dangerous, life threatening situation as soon as she lands and uses her element in what would be considered an illegal manner by all Teutonic standards to secure extraction. She sees first hand the darker potential of Teuton gifts when misused. Along the way, in this highly volatile time, she meets a very deep and settling new best friend, but also encounters several unsympathetic and unsettling adversaries. Among these is Augustin, "the man who did not exist", or so she thought. See how adversity and mistrust take a surprising turn in this high quality tale. The overall aim of the book series is becoming clear in Mystic Passage, though a lot of the story has yet to be told I'm sure. I highly recommend this book to all who appreciate a good story with high level intrigue an interaction between well developed characters!

About the author

C.L. Carhart has been writing since the age of 4, dabbling in everything from children’s books, to fantasy, to historical fiction. Eventually, her lifelong interest in European history inspired her to create a paranormal fantasy realm based on the Teutonic people groups. The His Name Was Augustin series provides a first glimpse at this other-world—a place rife with ancient mysteries and dark magic.

Born and raised in southern New Jersey, C.L. spends her free time hiking with her husband, enjoying metal music, snuggling her feline familiars, and dreaming of the wonders of Germany.
