Dare to Take

Tyler Dare and Ella Shaw have quite the history. They've known each other for years due to the fact that Ella is the best friend of Tyler's sister Avery. One night years ago has made the relationship between Tyler and Ella strained over the years. When a mugging and a hurricane put Ella's life in danger while she's away on a work trip, Avery calls in her brother to ride to her friend's rescue. What Avery doesn't realize is putting these two people back in one another's orbit could have explosive consequences. There is no denying there is chemistry between Tyler and Ella, but can they overcome the demons they are both individually battling and come to an agreement about that night long ago to make a go of it? Or, will the threat that seems to have followed Ella back to the states going to cause problems for the couple? This was a fitting conclusion of Carly Phillips' Dare series. We were treated not only to the love story of Tyler and Ella, but we got to check in with all of the other Dare's and their families as well. I look forward to the new series that Carly will have releasing later this year!

I haven't read the previous books in this series. Although this can be read as a standalone, I think that those who have read the other books will enjoy this one more. The story is mainly about Ella and Tyler, but the rest of the family plays a big part. Tyler was Ella's first. It was a mistaken, drunken romp that has hindered their friendship for years. They're in each other's lives a lot and always end up fighting because of left over bad feelings and ignored attraction. Both also have lots of family issues to face. Tyler especially has some growing up to do. An attack on Ella puts them together, and their true emotions finally come to the surface. Dare to Take is about two people getting over past hurts and focusing on what direction they really want their lives to go. Fans of the other books will be happy to know that families matters like weddings and babies happen along the way for some of the couples. If you love to read about big close-knit families and erotic sexy times, you should check it out.

Tyler is no hero, he behaved like a jerk. Question was, if they had not been forced to be together by circumstances, would he have apologized for what he did to ella. Nevertheless, he stepped up when ella got into trouble. He was concerned enough to have to force her to stay with him to keep her safe until her stalker was neutralized. They both had a lot of emotional baggages that they needed to overcome separately and together. People spent too much time wallowing in their hurt pride and their personal issues when rifts could be healed a lot sooner and relationships repaired if only for closure before it is too late and somebody is dying.
