Phoenix Betrayed: An Urban Fantasy Adventure

Knowing that each episode focused on a main character, I have been WAITING for Rex. Dying for Rex actually. Ancient Egypt has been a love of mine since first learning about it in grade 5. Anubis has been my favourite companion to the point that I have two different Anubis tattoos. Seeing the history folded into these pages was so intriguing and made me so happy. Humbled by the appearances of Ra, Anubis himself and Sekhmet. This novel picks right up in the throws of action that the last novel left off on. To say that these novels are pulse pounding does not give the writing justice. I am literally sitting on my couch on the edge of my seat, breathing hard, freaking out about not knowing if these characters will be okay. Claire's writing is top notch. She has a way of creating these characters and making them their own. You care about them all. You become attached to them and their fates. I cannot recommend her writing and her novels enough. This was my first go at a serialized series. And I am so excited that there is going to be a 'Season 2' of this world. I honestly think with all the different creatures, this series could go on and on and on. And I would be all for that. Seeing the growth of each character from the first episode to now is really amazing. The humor that is able to be within these pages with the circumstances is really brilliant. And that Epilogue. Just read this series...you will not be disappointed. I cannot wait to buy the entire series in one omnibus volume !

The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and graphic descriptions creating an elaborate backdrop that feels as though you were transported to ground zero with them. Great ending to the series. It stays full of twists until the very end and wraps the story up nicely.
