About this ebook

The Solar System's fate rests on the shoulders of one, insignificant woman...

Melanie Destin has attracted the wrong kind of attention.

The Jovian Collective is looking for her. They have a job that only she can do, and nobody turns them down if they know what's good for them.

Carson Willis has set in motion the final steps to bring down the Collective. If he succeeds, his mysterious employer is set to become the single most powerful economic power in the solar system, and an interplanetary conflict between Terra and Mars will be all but assured. Mel's job is to stop him.

But she believes his plans hide a far more nefarious objective that frightens her far more than the shadow of war; one that will place the psychopathic Willis, in control of the entire solar system.

But nobody will listen to her.

Abandoned by her friends and allies, Mel is left to her own resources to stop Willis. With the clock running out, and her enemy closing in on her, she has one impossible chance to prevent a remorseless killer from becoming the most tyrannical despot in history.

The finale of a series is nearly always bitter sweet. You now know how it ends, but there is no more left to read about. This is how I feel about The Jovial Collective. It is especially bitter when you consider there were originally going to be more books, but its sweet as you know how it now ends. It is not an unexpected ending if you have read Mars Ascendant stories, but if you haven't there maybe some unexpected twists. Mel is tasked with finding Nancy, hunting down Willis and stopping the potential annihilation of The Jovian Collective (and others when Mars and Terra go to war). We also find out who is ultimately behind the machinations performed in the previous 4 books and the Ikeido siblings return. There is romance, intrigue, double crosses, murder, space and land attacks, tracers, stealth technology, drinking, swearing and all the things you'd expect from a Mel Destin/ great sci-fi novel. An enjoyable read, though disappointing as it's the last one. Hopefully not the last we read of Mel.... I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am providing this review on my own volition.
