Aiden Bronte is asked to work with Mountain Bear Rode. The two men fly to Vegas, where Toby, the only family Mountain is on good terms with, has been charged with murdering her new husband. This story is delightful and contains lots of action, romance, and a bit of steam, ending in a HEA with a cliffhanger for book one of the next series. I highly recommend reading this story. I received a copy of this book from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was quite a mystery. Toby is a accused of murdering her husband who was not a nice man at all. “The innocent victim is our card dealer, Toby. She’s been charged with murder, released on bail. I am told that she’s at home in isolation.” Aiden Bronte and Mountain who is Toby’s cousin head to Las Vegas to prove her innocence. What they find out is shocking. I have read many books by this author but none in this series. It was completely different kind of read. Just goes to show you that a

A 3.5 fast-paced fun suspense romance read. This is the 18th book from The Maverick series, one of my fav series from Dale Mayer, because it's always entertaining and fun to read, a perfect read when I have a hectic day and there's no exception with this one, I enjoyed it a lot. There's a lot going on in this book, domestic abuse, murder, blackmail, gambling, unreliable cop investigations, yup there's plenty twist and turns, lots of things to keep me turning page after page. Aiden and Mountain also the reason why I like this book, they're just a perfect alpha hero, overprotective, confidence and always get the things done perfectly. What I don't like is Toby, from the get go her attitude is really annoying, she's a pessimist, always complaining, and I don't feel the sparks between her and Aiden, so I'm not a big fan of the romance part in this book. Overall, it's a light entertaining romantic suspense read.
