This novella is the start of The Eagle Creek series and it is Hunter and Lacy's story. Hunter was in the military with Jonah who was Lacy's brother but when Jonah died while they were in action Hunter decided to leave and his best friend Gray did the same but they have always been there for Jonah and Lucy's parents as they had always been there for them so when Lucy phones to say her parents need help both men to to see what they can do. Lucy can't believe that her parents have kept the news of them having money this troubles from her until the last minute so she phones Hunter as he is the only person that she can trust and ask for help. Lucy has been in love with Hunter for many years but he keeps her at arms length because of a duty to her brother Jonah and Hunter also sees her as a sister but that is not what she wants. Hunter knows that it is going to be difficult being near Lucy because of how he feels about her but he is determined to keep himself away from her but things don't always go as planned. Hunter and Lucy have such strong chemistry but will Hunter ever act on it or not as he doesn't do commitment and that is something that Lucy wants. The characters and storyline pulled you in right from the first page and I couldn't put this book down and even though it was only a short story it definitely packed a punch and omg what a cliff hanger ending and I can't wait to see what will happen in there next book. This is the first book that I have read by Daphne Abbott and I definitely enjoyed reading it and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.
