A friend recommended this book to me, and I read it while I had nothing else to do whilst on a vacation. Had I any other activities to engage in, I would have. This book is boring, cliched and predictable, and entirely nonsensical. I did not enjoy this book in the slightest and would not recommend it.

It took me a while to get into this one and it probably also didn't help
that I started it straight after finishing the Troy series which was
fantastic.

I have yet to find another author that immerses me so deeply into a book. Since reading pretty much all of gemmell books it's hard to find a author that matches hi caliber. If your unsure about fantasy then pick up a book by this guy and you will want time read more. True legend in heroic fantasy
About the author
David Gemmell's first novel, Legend, was published in 1984 and he was widely acclaimed as Britain's king of heroic fantasy. He died in July 2006.
