David Gemmell's early work is definitely a contrast to his much later
stories. Like most skills the more he wrote the better he became. This
story is by no means bad but compared to the more recent stories of his

David Gemmell is the king of heroic fantasy. It's a real page turner, he builds multi characters that come together for dramatic battles. His characters have to deal with moral dilemmas, confront their fears or shortcomings, and there's always a climactic ending

About the author
David Gemmell's first novel, Legend, was published in 1984 and he was widely acclaimed as Britain's king of heroic fantasy. He died in July 2006.
