About this ebook

Reaching out to the millions of dog and animal lovers, David Teems offers delightful stories that highlight spiritual principles through the antics and love of his canine companions.

Just ask the dog

A dog makes devotion look as if it is the best part of life. And why shouldn’t it be? Author and musician David Teems examines the possibilities. Using dogs as a playful yet powerful image of devotion, he gives you a glimpse of what the devoted life is, what it looks like, how it behaves, the possibility of attaining it, and what little work it has to be. The devoted life is filled with:

  • uncommon love
  • irrepressible joy
  • deep and immovable contentment
  • wonder and fascination
  • communion with God

Worship is meant to be a way of life, a continuous day-by-day, moment-by-moment event that engages the divine among the ordinary—a life of pure possibility, life as it should be, as it was designed to be.

Part memoir, part metaphor, And Thereby Hangs a Tale is a brilliant and playful peek into the "secret life of dogs" and their unquestioning devotion, embrace of the now, and unrestrained, unrehearsed love. It's a "dalmatian devotional".... And an intensely human one too. My copy is underlined, and "dog-eared". Savored. Actually the book is one to be read, and re-read, passed to friends, and kept by the bedside for moments when a choice morsel is so needed to make sense of life. Warm, reminiscent, alive,Tale takes the reader on an incredible journey home. David Teems is a treasure, there are few on this planet who have his way with words, who can turn a phrase with such lyricism, elegance and yes, heart. Inspirng...yes, I can never go away from having read David's prose without having been radically impacted, my vision and spirit enlarged. The book is a book to treasure, whether you are a dog-lover or a God-lover or both.
