This is the third book in the FBI: Houston series, however it is a stand alone novel. I have read the first book, Firewall (loved it by the way), but actually did not realize this was in the same series. The characters are mentioned but I really did not make the connection till I started writing this review. If you enjoy FBI, murder and suspense you will enjoy this novel. The romance in this book is woven in but there is not much detail there. I enjoyed both Special Agent Bethany Sanchez and Special Agent Thatcher Graves personalities, yet there were times in the book I was a little lost on who was doing the speaking. I wish the romance was a bit more prevalent, but it is mentioned. Bethany is a by the books kind of agent, with some serious family issues. She is nervous about her first time in this new devision of the FBI and more so about her handsome partner. Their personalities and style are so different, she wonders if this partnership will even work. Thatcher is determined to find this killer before he strikes again. When he must help his new partner learn the ropes of her new role will she be a hinderance or a help? Will they ever see eye to eye on this case, and what is she hiding? There are many twist and turns in this novel, I did not actually see how this one was going to end. I enjoyed the suspense and crime solving, I just wish there was a little more romance. I was given a copy of this novel from net galley for my honest opinion.
