About this eBook

"I should never have asked for a night with you. This would never have happened if I'd had more willpower."

Once upon a time, I was a mute captive who wished for death.

Now, I’m stowed away on a yacht.

Saved and taken, the thief who stole me demands my voice, my past, my everything.

I won’t give in.

But Elder refuses to take no for an answer.

He pushes and cajoles, slowly discovering who I am. Until I find out he plays the cello to escape his demons, all while his music conjures mine.

He’s rich, I’m bankrupt.

I’m mute by choice, he’s curious by nature.

So many reasons why we can never work.

But that doesn’t stop our connection, our passion.

Until one night, he ruins everything.

This story so far has been a whirlwind of emotions, and this sequel was no different in my eyes. It kept making me believe in hope for Tasmin, all while thinking Elder was a different kind of man. There's a kind of beauty in being able to save and destroy someone, and I can't wait to find out if it will be Tasmin or Elder who reigns victorious in the next book.

I loved Book 1 but Book 2 was a little hard for me to deal with. It's actually one of the 1st in a long time that I didn't read in one sitting. as insensitive as I sound, the whole inner-dilemna of Pim was seriously dragged out and made to be more frustrating and aggravating than tragic. I've read a lot of books with similar themes without an entire book being dedicated to their refusal to heal. that paired with the fact the author often used descriptive wording that made Pim sound like a wild animal, like Tarzan (which is unfortunate bc she shouldn't be seen as that). overall I would have rated it a 1-2 but the ending redeemed it to a 3. very good ending for sure

I'm completely addicted to the mystery, intrigue and thoughtful nature of this story. Everything about the story, characters and writing is so intricate and eloquent. It’s so easy to get lost in the story and it’s pretty much impossible to speed read. I have to read slowly to process and savor all the deep thoughts and feels, sometimes re-reading a paragraph to fully comprehend the depth of the idea. I had so many involuntary epiphanies throughout the story. So much thoughtful brilliance. Dollars does not contain any of the graphic violence found in the first book, Pennies. Instead if focuses on Pim’s physical and mental healing and the developing bond between Elder and Pim. They seem to be caught up in some sort of strange dance of one step forward and then two steps back, trapped within the confines of an endless power struggle. Elder clearly has some deep and dark secrets, but all we get are whispered hints as to the truth of his dark past and what he truly wants with Pim. I'm completely dumbfounded as to what those secrets could be. This series is slowly ripping me apart with mysteries, emotion and a slow burn laced with equal parts hope and despair. I'm dying for the next installment!
