This short story prequel has my interest piqued for the rest of the series. I had a little trouble getting in to the story, but by the time I finished the first chapter I was really interested. Definitely a departure from my usual genres, this is well written and exciting. The characters are interesting and the protagonist is quite likeable. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Teenage fantasy A well written book that will have many young readers enthralled. Think " hunger games " at sea . Great characters and very well developed ...would love to read the next part of this fantasy adventure I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Adventure, dragons what more can you ask for. Well ships and pirates are a close second. Good characters and interesting story line make for good reading. Can't wait for the next book! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review

About the author

Brian S. Ference lives in Cave Creek, Arizona with his wife Rachel and three children Nathan, Lena, and Victoria. CHRIS TURNER is a visual artist, games designer, and writer of fantasy, adventure and science fiction. Chris is a prolific painter, with nearly a thousand oil art works to his name. He has also been involved in extensive studio recording, guitar and keyboard. After graduating from University of Waterloo in Computer Science he backpacked and biked throughout Europe and Asia before teaching software development courses in Ottawa, Canada.

Chris’s other interests are cycling, canoeing, tennis and software development.
