About the author
1804 wurde Mantine-Aurore-Lucile Dupin, die sich später George Sand nannte, in Paris geboren. Sie lebte als freie Schriftstellerin, getrennt von ihrem Mann, mit ihren Kindern auf dem ererbten Schloß Nohant und unterhielt Freundschaften mit Berühmtheiten ihrer Zeit wie Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, Heinrich Heine, Honoré de Balzac und Gustave Flaubert. Sie starb 1876.
