I really enjoyed the introduction to this author’s new series set in North Carolina. Jake “Psych short for Psychic” Skinner is the Element Leader of the Second Marine Raider Battalion’s Alpha Squad. There are five men in his squad and I hope each of them will get their own story. While training, Jake sees a human where one shouldn’t be. She’s curled on top of beacon in the ocean. Caroline's decision to go to a party with Brent, a man she just met, may not have been the best one. When he leaves to her own devices, after awhile she is annoyed and goes in search of him. She probably should have stayed on deck, as she hears something she should not. When her and Brent are brought back up topside, the guy decides to kill them both, Brent is killed and she jumps in the water. Jake finds Caroline clinging to a buoy, rescuing her, he feels he should be there to protect her.

Hunted is the first book in the Marine Raiders Romance series. This had everything I love about military romantic suspense, heat and steam, action, romance, a strong female and an alpha male that tires to protect but also knows how to treat her right. The author nailed it with the way Jake and his team are with each other, they're family and not afraid to joke around but have each others back through it all. I can't wait to read more in this series. Jake drawn to Caroline is determined to break down the walls she has around her heart and keep her safe but it isn't going to be easy, she has a no dating military guys rule she determined to keep. Allyson Charles lives in Colorado. She’s the author of sexy and funny small-town romances, including the Pineville Romance series and The Forever series. A former attorney, she happily ditched those suits and now works in her pajamas writing about men’s briefs instead of legal briefs. When she’s not writing, she’s probably engaged in one of her favorite hobbies: napping, eating, or martial arts (That last one almost makes up for the first two, right?). One of Allyson’s greatest sources of happiness is that she now lives in a city that has a Cracker Barrel.
