Well color me surprised. Not only has Ian Flynn reversed course on what seemed like a sure dip in quality for Issue 2 of this miniseries but he's even improved! I gave issue 1 four stars, but it was shaky. This is a very solid 4/5 story that has more than justified the setup of the previous issues, and I was legitimately not expecting that! In the past several years since the Tangle and Whisper miniseries it felt like Flynn's writing was stagnating or even just getting much worse, but I finally feel like he's writing a story he cares about telling again. Ultimately, this series' success or failure in my eyes is dependent on not only the final issue, but also the main series issue 50 (and perhaps 51) sticking the landing, but I do have a pretty good feeling. In terms of art, we have a mixed bag. The action was handled better this time and I enjoyed a lot of the expressions more than past issues, but there were still various problems that kept me from loving the art.

The best Imposter Syndrome issue, another dark, Traumatic backstory, Surge and Kit even fight Starline! So darkly cool.
