About this ebook

Having survived a police-involved shooting and her first week, Emma Parks is forced to relive the worst years of her life when a child is mysteriousy kidnapped. The bureaucracy of Child Protective Services attacks her when she stands for the truth, and her worst enemy vows to make her life hell. Emma's family is facing their own life and death struggles, but they won't reach out to her because of their own dark secrets, plus the family's powerful matriarch is in town demanding Emma's attention and seeking answers. Penniless, powerless, and almost alone, Emma's darkest days seem ahead of her, not behind. Could she lose her job and her lover in the police department when the truth comes out?

This is the second of the Emma Parks series, preceded by "Hope Knocks Twice" and followed by "Emma Forgiven."

About the author

JT Hume started life as a rambling man. He was born in El Paso because his Army parents were stationed in Texas, and he’s lived in various states and three different countries over the years. Along the way, he became a proud Nevadan and product of the Silver State’s K12 and higher education system. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, something he reminds people of every day (like most veterans).

The best decision he ever made was over forty years ago when he asked Cassidy Carson to marry him. The jury is still out on whether accepting said proposal was Cassidy’s best decision.

JT’s books are formed from his knowledge and interest in politics, government, and religion, and his characters are maneuvered through strategies honed over many years playing incredibly bad chess. Some might say his books are flavored with the love and romance he’s shared with his soulmate over their many decades together, but that’s icky to even think about, so don’t go there.

Instead, please read his books and reach out to him with feedback and constructive criticism. Or just say hi. Really, he’ll talk your ear off if you let him. Thanks in advance.
