About this ebook

No good deed goes unpunished...

When a police raid in Edinburgh goes horribly wrong, the only silver lining for Inspector Tony McLean is a discovery that could lead to a long-lost girl from his early days on the beat.

Haunted by the mystery of what happened to her, McLean begins to dig into a case he thought long buried.

But the shadows of the past are soon eclipsed by crimes in the present as a series of strange and gruesome deaths shock the city.

As McLean's investigation draws him ever deeper into the upper echelons of Edinburgh society, it will not only be his career on the line - but his life as well...

Such colourful characters and gripping intertwining plot, the ending once again much too loose and ragged. It may be more realistic to not have McLean save the day and change the world, but neither is ghostly women who walk away from a knife to the heart... I feel that it would add to the story to actually read about how some light comes from the solving of these cases. Maybe not a complete 'heads will roll' ending, but maybe see the bad guys shaken up or taken down a notch or two.

Enjoy the Mclean books, and this was my favourite to date. Good detective stories with a hint of the supernatural. Not as good as the John Connolly Charlie Parker series but still excellent entertainment..
