Christy Barnett is sleeping when her aging German shepherd Molly growls into the darkness outside her bedroom. Fairly well written, but horribly cliched military types and trite dialogue just doesn't cut it anymore. And the book is only about 270 pages long, not 320. The dark entities aren't particularly scary or threatening, there's little tension here. Some things happen, and then it all ends suddenly with one of the most unexciting climaxes in fiction history. As a King, Koontz, Laymon fan... well, this is just garbage by comparison. If this is what passes for 5 star entertainment these days, standards have well and truly nosedived.

I don't usually post reviews, but this time is very well deserved. This is the first book from Jason Brant I've read and I flew through it and I loved it. Even though the story might be short, Jason is able to create a very strong bond between the characters and the reader. His writing is also modern and not too sumptuous which make for a very pleasant reading experience. Also there are so many cliffhangers that you won't be able to stop reading!

Exciting but the ending didn't live up to Brant usual finale he's definitely one to follow his other books are addictive
About the author
Jason Brant is the author of thrillers and horror novels. His works include The Hunger series, The Gate, The Dark, the West of Hell series, and multiple novellas and short stories.
A job led him from the mountains of western Pennsylvania to the outskirts of Baltimore, Maryland. For a little over half a decade, he held the position of Digital Forensics Analyst for the Department of Defense. He escaped that post to write novels, watch movies, and drink microbrews.
