About the author

Jay Umble has studied and performed jazz for almost 50 years. His early influences were George Benson, Pat Martino (with whom he studied with in the early 80’s) and later, Pat Metheny and Bill Frisell. Now in his retirement years, he prefers his playing schedule to be on the lighter side, performing mostly in his local region. Jay’s repertoire now focuses on his original music with an occasional nod to the jazz standard book. He is proud to be a contributing artist to MelBay Publications.
