Jay Umble has studied and performed jazz for almost 50 years. His early influences were George Benson, Pat Martino (with whom he studied in the early '80s), and later, Pat Metheny and Bill Frisell. Now in his retirement years, he prefers his playing schedule to be on the lighter side, performing mostly in his local region. Jay's repertoire now focuses on his original music with an occasional nod to the jazz standard book. He is proud to be a contributing artist to Mel Bay Publications.
