About this ebook

Geeky tech girls aren’t supposed to have this much fun with their super spy co-workers.

Ruby typically supports a team of do-gooder assassins from the safety of her supercomputer in their command center. She’s dragged into danger when hackers attack her, empty millions from her crypto wallet, and threaten the global economy by tampering with blockchain technology.

Worse, her attraction to two of the agents she works with—Ace and Liam—is a distraction none of them can afford, especially when she winds up sharing a bed with them for her own safety.

They’ve got issues of their own. Ace barely returned to active duty after a grievous injury that wrecked his arm and nearly ended his career. His wounds fractured more than bones, shaking Liam’s confidence and willingness to deepen their partnership both on and off duty because they risk their lives daily to protect others. And that’s before they admit that they’re falling for the same nerdy-yet-adorable woman, who should also be strictly off-limits.

Can Ruby fix what’s broken between the three of them before the hackers end her career and her life?

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jayne Rylon comes a steamy new multi-partner standalone series set in the Powertools universe.

The Shields security team accepts missions in the grey area of both law and morality that no one else wants or can handle. They’re a ragtag bunch of special ops soldiers, ex-government agents, and hackers wrangled by a former construction worker who aspired to be a superhero’s sidekick when he grew up. What could go wrong?

Another great installment in the series. The last book left us with quite the tease for this book. I couldn't wait to dive in. Ace, Ruby, and Liam had me gobbling up the pages. They have a ton of chemistry that burned up the pages. Have a cold glass of water handy. Liam and Ace have to deal with some inner demons if they want a future with Ruby. Things get real interesting with hackers and bad guys up to no good. Parts of this one kept me on the edge of my seat. The tease for the next book has me already eagerly waiting it.

Broken is the latest Powertools: The Shields instalment from Jayne Rylon. Ruby is the team computer geek and too curious for her own good. A late night wander through the codes of cryptocurrency uncovers someone changing codes that are supposed to be unchangeable. Ruby screenshots the codes and thinks she is invisible as she is worrying about the implications of the discovery. The bad actors send her a threat and to prove they can reach her at anytime, they empty her cryptocurrency wallet. Liam and Ace are partners and in a complicated relationship. Their apartment is next door to Ruby’s and even with the soundproofing, their relationship isn’t as private as they think. Neither has the courage to bring Ruby into their relationship thinking she wouldn’t want either for any number of reasons. The cyber thugs are targeting Ruby and it is up to Liam and Ace to protect her.

I loved this trio so much! There is something about a suspense storyline with computers and online villains that just feels so much scarier. I mean, the bad guys are, or could be, anywhere, doing anything. The fact that we get to see JRad was a bonus in and of itself, and made me crave a Men in Blue check-in novella so bad!!! Now, onto Ruby, Levi, and Ace. Ruby is our hacker and completely adorable and loveable, I liked her in previous books, but I loved her here. Feisty, fun, shy, sweet, stubborn, and determined, she is a bundle of wonderful woman. Ace and Levi are already a couple, but not really. There are some issues there, and while Ruby has been wanting from afar to be in on it, circumstances land her right in the middle. Once there, she isn’t backing away from getting things worked out between them and having her as part of it. The bad guys only work harder, making these three all the closer, and getting them their richly deserved HEA p.s. James’ car is a character of its’ own in the story, both as a hero and a victim, yet again 😊
