About this ebook

There once was a king’s reign when England’s fate was forever decided, when the Danes swooped in to conquer, and one splendid ruler stood between savagery and a glorious new dawn. The Edge of Light is the magnificent tale of those faraway times, of that monarch, Alfred the Great, and of the woman he could not help but love…

The beautiful Elswyth, Princess of Mercia, is a woman-child already promised to a lord of the realm. Young Prince Alfred, fifth son of King Ethelwulf of Wessex, never dreamed he would don the crown of Britain, though he was destined to become its greatest king. Two headstrong lovers vow to fight to change the world rather than forfeit their passion—in a grand and glorious saga that explodes with the passions of love and war.

The writing in the book is great, but the file is trash: Book 3 of The Dark Ages of Britain series. Not added to the Google listing included for the series, apparently because of the unformatted scanning/upload of this book. For the first time I think ever, I have paid for a copy of a book offered through Google, and had to download a not broken version of the same book, and then upload it to books, just so I could read what I originally paid for. 😕 This may not be as big of a problem for tablets, but on a standard (2022) phone or smaller, it's impossible. Only rating 1 star, because of the above mentioned issues with this copy/upload of the book, no reflection on the actual content of the book, which was of course, fabulous and heart-wrenching in good old Joan Wolf fashion. I love this series so incredibly much, Joan Wolf is a master of writing this time period. Here's to hoping that this issue can be fixed eventually. 10/10, An excellent read, once I was actually able to read it.
