I have enjoyed reading all three of the books in The Box of Draupnir series by K.J. Jackson. In The Soul of a Rogue, the author has brought a satisfying conclusion to the mystery, myth, murder, secrets, fantasy, and danger that have surrounded the Box throughout the years. As like most of the author’s works I’ve read, she offers readers, two strong protagonists, in the main characters, Elle and Rune. The plot is well developed, with a lot of intense, raw emotion between the main characters. There is plenty of action incorporated in the story with run-ins with some pretty vile characters. It was exciting and kept my interest engaged. Forewarning, there is a moderate amount of intimacy between the H and h but not overly done. I do recommend this work to readers who appreciate an “out of the ordinary” Regency romance but offer a qualification. Readers who have not read either of the first two offerings may find it a little more difficult to get into this one at the beginning as the two main characters are on their quest right away and not much background surrounding the Box is given. It might be best to read either one or both of the two previous works. All three books are very good. The author does a nice job tying everything together in the final chapter which even helped my recall of events. It was also pleasing to have an epilogue. Rating: 4, Heat: 3 ½ - 4.

So entertaining. I really enjoyed this one it was a bit of romance, mystery, and paranormal all mixed together by a very talented writer. The cast of characters was splendid I found Elle and Rune so entertaining. The author clearly lets the reader know that these characters have had unexpected events that have created problems for them. They were truly lost and troubled souls. What I liked were how developed the characters were and what a lovely cover. This was such a good piece that I highly recommend. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

USA Today Bestselling Author K.J. Jackson writes historical and paranormal romances, but is a sucker for reading a good story in any genre. She lives in Minnesota with her husband, two children, and a dog who has taken the sport of bed-hogging to new heights. When not wrangling the words, she loves road trips, urban canoeing adventures, mountain biking, tennis, and weekends with absolutely nothing to do.
