Dekon is book 10 in the Mated to The Alien series, and though it can be read alone, I highly suggest reading at least some of the previous ones (specifically Shayn and Braxtyn, if no others-they're his brother's books) to get full enjoyment from this piece. The side characters and history will be more enjoyable if you have a little history to eat them with. :) This series and the Detyan Warrior series are connected as well, in case you're hungry for more. Dekon is written in third person omniscient, from multiple (mostly the leading pair) perspectives. I have been waiting for Dekon's book for a while, and was so excited to finally get my grubby paws on it, let me tell you. Dekon was the more upbeat twin to Brax's dour and sombre and I wanted very much to see him get his happily ever after. Manda too, deserved her happiness after the horrors she saw as a child, so they make the perfect pairing. There is still a healthy dose of loving family in this book (that family seems to adopt strays, but it's awesome) as well as a lot of heartache that our boneheaded hero unwittingly laid on himself. But there was growth, adventure, and maturing done by both parties. I loved watching Manda really take her life into her own hands and make it her own. Seeing her become a strong woman even after her ordeals was absolutely heartwarming. As with the previous books, if you like fated mates, colorful aliens with complicated genetics, steamy love, action, adventure, and some wonderful family moments, then this is a book you should give a shot!

Book ten in the Mated to the Alien series a well written sci-fi story that kept me turning pages. Four years ago the denya bond ignited and Dekon found his mate Manda, but she was too young so he left Earth. They both have so much to get over if they are to get there happy ending. There is suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, a villain, and romance. A story that was well worth reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Four years ago, Deke left his Denya, or mate, behind because she was just too young, and he was impulsive and afraid. He became a mercenary, somewhat accidentally, and now feels tainted by the blood on his hands, and unworthy of Manda. She chases him halfway across the galaxy to bring him home, and along the way danger finds them. Deke's mercenary skills save them both more than once. He reunites with his family when they get back to Earth, and finds himself again. This whole series is amazing, and this book is no exception. Deke and Manda are both damaged, and come together in spite of Deke's best intentions. Their love story is sweet and they get their HEA.
