About the author
Carl Ludwig Schleich (1859-1922) hat als deutscher Chirurg eine Methode zur lokalen Anästhesie (Infiltrationsanästhesie) entwickelt. Er promovierte 1887 in Greifswald. Noch in der Kaiserzeit wurde er zum Professor ernannt (1899). Ab 1900 übernahm er die Leitung der Chirurgischen Abteilung am Krankenhaus der Gemeinde Groß-Lichterfelde. Schleich publizierte mehrere kleine Bücher. Die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Anästhesiologie und Intensivmedizin (DGAI) verleiht jährlich den Carl-Ludwig-Schleich-Preis für "bedeutsame Arbeiten auf dem Gebiet der Schmerzforschung".
