don't know how he makes a political intrigue store so enthralling, maybe it's the way it holds a mirror up to our current political environment, but either way, I loved it.

This series, as with all Modesitt's books, offers a layered experience that combines a gripping read with optional social commentary and even a template for self reflection and growth. Way more fun than any personal development course, diving into the worlds and characters he creates invariably changes my perspective and understanding of the 'real world' and I can't get enough of it.

Recommended to those who wish to understand politics and people. Corruption is insidious and inevitable, controls over powerful corporations and people are essential.
