Lucy Maud Montgomery is the great novelist of the Maritimes , esp. Prince Edward Island. Anne, her continuing character is perhaps the most fully realized woman in 20th century huhEnglish Language Literature. So the "cover" of this electronic edition is Waterhouse's painting of the Lady of Shallot, from Tennyson's poem. The result is akin to a picture of Porky Pig on a package of Kosher hot dogs. Does one laugh, does one cry? Perhaps a minor example of the death of even everyday culture in our time. So this is Google Play Books. Its curators, if they be protoplasmic, utterly, perhaps gleefully, oblivious to literature and art. But they do make the stuff available. Read the book, go to Prince Edward Island, preferably by boat, and ponder the fate of the Krell. Also don't miss out on the local potatoes.

A fantastic collection that details Anne's adventures. I have only read the first 2 stories so far but they were marvelous and very charming. What a breath of fresh air to escape this day and age and land in a world powered by horse and carriage! And yet, so many things are the same--especially how people interact, our fears, worries, and hopes! Delightful and idyllic. The only issue I had was the format, which wouldn't allow me to change the typeface or justification on most devices. Frustrating but not a deal-breaker by any stretch of the imagination.

This is the first truly complete series of "Anne" books and I loved it!! It is very difficult to find all of the books in the series, and to find them all together, to be able to read them straight through, was such a joy!!! Thank you for bringing me these 'old friends' by this wonderful, prolific author!!!!!
