About this ebook

Heading underground leads Ani to discover more about herself than she thought possible.

Having been assigned to the catacombs under London, Ani finds that damp and poor embalming conditions have led to a lot of the coffins and bodies being in a state of disrepair.

As the team working in the catacombs do their best to undo the worst of the damage, Ani finds herself questioning the conditions of the poorest burials in London, and what she can do to make them better.

Despite the odds, she's determined to find a solution that pleases herself, Anubis, and the temple as a whole.

This chapter of Ani and Nik’s adventures showcases Ani’s heart and her enormous capacity for compassion. I’m pretty much a softie, so a lot of what Ani goes through in this book left me a little choked up. But on the lighter side, I loved seeing her and Nik, (and Matia,) settling in to their newlywed domestic bliss. And now that they’re off on a major new assignment, I can’t wait to see what their future will bring. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.

This story is both wonderful and heartbreaking. Ani and Nik are back to work and their newest assignment is to help a small temple that needs to remove/restore the dead from the catacombs they’ve been in due to water leakage. I thought focusing on a few individuals rather than the overall huge amount of work was important. It made the story touching and heart wrenching. Especially the young girl. If there was any doubt before this book is proof that Anubis chose well when he chose Ani. There’s

Ani has a visit from Hori who informs her that he'd like her to go to the catacombs. In return he will make sure scribes work on her paperwork. So she and Nik head there. What she finds is so saddening. Coffins everywhere. The catacombs are in danger of flooding as well as cave ins. She needs to come up with a way to help these souls find their way to Duat. Being poor doesn't mean they need to lose their way. Now she and Nik must work towards a solution that will satisfy not only her but Anubis.
