The tale of the Winter Queen isn’t one I’m very familiar with, other than where it’s been retold by someone else. However, I kind of enjoyed being able to come at this with fresh eyes. Gerda and Kai were an interesting pairing. Even after their long separation, they were still able to resume their friendship as if no time at all had passed. I could easily understand Gerda’s jealousy, but I didn’t get quite the same sense of the love necessary for the pair to begin courting. That hasn’t affected

Snow Queen story remake with Lady Gerda and her childhood best friend Lord Kai. Both have prophesies that intertwine. It’s an interesting story where Gerda goes to Grimm Academy because of her prophesy and she fears making friends will catalyst her prophesy. Fear is a huge trait Gerda battles. When the appearance of childhood best friend Kai arrives that’s when the story takes off. Gerda isn’t likable and becomes a better character after meeting mer Mathilda “Mati”. The story ends on a happy end

I enjoyed this fairy tale retelling, like all of Laura's stories. I have never read The Snow Queen and don't know how the original fairy tale went, but this story was great. It dealt with Gerda and her prophecy of being betrayed by a best friend. This story kept me reading so I could find out what happened. It was interesting and ended in a way that left me happy. I'm a little said that this is the last story in the Grimm Academy series but can't wait until I read Madi's story in the future. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
