Harper is kidnapped and Elias and Pippa need to save her. They know that Regina is responsible and is the criminal boss. Now they have to figure out who is working with her and stop them. I only gave it four stars because you do not find why Regina did what she did. It was interesting to see how Harper was going to escape, Elias saves her in a very unlikely way. I like how he does it. A quick enjoyable read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Fitting End to “Series,” But... — I love the idea of this “series,” but I'm not wild about its episodic nature. I've read this author for some time, and usually her series are what I would call “true” series, each book unique but separate, contributing its own flavor to the series. This “series” is more like a single book split into episodes; this is the last one. The books end on cliffhangers, and the next books pick up right where the last one left off. At least the author does the best prior-book summaries I've ever seen in a book “series.” (I particularly liked the prior-book summaries done in her Seven Wardens series.) But to me, this kind of episodic “series” seems more about making an author money than doing anything for the reader. After all, if each “book” costs 4 bucks, authors will make far more from three than if they just had them as a single book. I just wish authors were up-front in their book descriptions that a particular “book” is an episode of a larger, continuous story. That way, the reader can determine if they want to go all in for such an episodic “series.” That said, I did enjoy this series. Harpies are not seen as often as other paranormal/mythological “creatures” in books like this. A slow-burn romance unfolded, adding more tension to the story because it makes the stakes higher when one of the couple is in danger. I like, too, that the author has a new gritty, urban fantasy edge to her books lately, and I find myself intrigued by these more “serious” books.... though I still have a soft spot for ones more rooted in mythical fantasy rather than urban fantasy. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Harpy's Freedom is the third book in the Supernatural Retrieval Agency series. The books have paranormal-supernatural action, romance, suspense, and more. I do not see them as standalone books; each one picks up where the last one ends, and they have cliffhanger endings. The characters are fun and engaging, and they keep you turning the pages. I look forward to more from these characters. Perhaps there will be a spinoff. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
