Laura always comes up with an unique story with characters that are relatable to everyone. Autumn is being pushed to marry someone who she does not like that much. She meets Nate at the right time and they just fit together well. They have the happy ending she has always wanted with the right person. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the first council book that I have read as it was the original idea of a snake made into a shifter that caught me. I have to say that Nathair is just such a lovely person at heart. A real sweetie! He overhears a conversation with a lovely young Dryad and her father where the father is pretty much forcing her to marry. He is so moved by it that he offers to try to become the groom so that she has a chance to make a choice with how her life should be. Autumn is stunned that someone, anyone would do something to selfless for her, not her father's daughter or the potentiak heir to a lot of money and prestige, just her as person in her own right. There is a little action here but it is mostly the building up of the relationship between Nathair & Autumn. A more gentle tale that was fun to read.

This was such a sweet story and very unique. Nate was not born a shifter but rather a snake and his adopted father, a Genie, turned him human. Autumn is a Dryad and her father is rather controlling and is determined that she get married, only his choice for her is not who she would choose for herself. Not only that, her father is not aware of Autumn's little side gig, basically she "retrieves" stolen items and returns them to their rightful owners, for a fee of course. Being a Dryad she is tied to her tree and can never be too far away for too long so she cannot exactly run away and escape her father. When she and Nate meet there are sparks. Nate immediately knows that Autumn is his mate but because of what her father is doing he would never want her to feel trapped. When Autumn's dad decides to come up with a series of challenges for the men vying for Autumn's hand Nate is determined to win so that he can give her a choice in her future. As the two get closer they come up with a plan that will ensure Nate's success but obtaining the final object will not be an easy feat. Can Nate win the girl and can the two of them overcome any and all obstacles in their way? You'll have to read the book to find out. .
