I love novels written as these were, plenty of intrique and adventure wrapped around two people who fall in love. Due to the subject matter the novels are not linked with familiar characters, but rather because of political strife and life changes bringing people together in trying times. A bit heavy on descriptions of the clothing worn, but I got through it. Again, an enjoyable read.

Fast-paced and romantic, set during the period of the French Revolution, this book kept me in suspense right through as Stephanie throws herself into finding ways to rescue her father from the clutches of the Revolutionaries. Nicholas, her self-appointed guardian, has his work cut out for him to keep her safe and rescue from one escapade after the next. Stephanie is young, proud and has a devious mind when it comes to reaching her goals. However, Nicholas is mostly always one step ahead of her. That is until she risks everything to reach her father. The plot of this novel encompasses all of the danger that one expects from the era, as well as the intrigue, suspicions, gossip, and lies that are told to gain secrets. Stephanie is a high-spirited heroine who will stop at nothing to reach her objectives, whilst Nicholas is a resourceful hero who ruefully has her back even when she is working against him. This is the first book I have read by this author and I found it well written and intriguing. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
