This is such a fun story! It is a stand alone read about a playboy firefighter, with an interesting reputation, and a school teacher, who is a single mother, looking for a fresh start. He is drawn to her instantly but she is playing easy to get. Then he tries to win her son over to get to her. This is an interesting story with some drama, miscommunication and a touch of sabotage. I love the characters and how the story develops.

A well written bad boy firefighter romance with a great storyline and characters. You get a bit of drama, a touch of angst, flirty banter, meddling townspeople, twists, misunderstandings, jealousy, rumors, naughty scenes, and it all wraps up with a great HEA. I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.

Jake is a firefighter in the small town of Bootlick, Kansas. He has a reputation for having a big hose, in fact, it's his nickname. But it isn't because of the hose he uses to fight fires. Women want to be with him so they can boast about it. Jake is a bachelor and has always been ok with that. He wasn't looking to get married. Hope is a single mother to 5 year old George and the new kindergarten teacher. She meets Jake when she takes her class to the firehouse for a field trip. Jake is interested in Hope although she isn't his usual type. Hope has been warned about Jake by her friend. She isn't interested. She has a son and wants more. As Jake gets to know Hope and Hope gets to know Jake, they start to see that things aren't always how they look. There are roadblocks along the way. Will they be able to overcome the hurdles? I liked this book. It was previously released under a pseudonym and is now being released as Mari Carr.
