News and Nectarines is the first book in the Tri-Town Murders series and is a great start to this new series. I found this to be an entertaining small-town cozy mystery. Reporter Tilly Donner creates mayhem as she goes about trying to solve the murder of her neighbour. The characters are well depicted and likable. The storyline is well written and engaging, with humour, murder, mystery, and small-town gossip. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

3.75stars—NEWS AND NECTARINES is the first instalment in Carly Winter’s contemporary, adult TRI-TOWN MURDERS cozy murder-mystery series focusing on thirty-seven year old journalist and divorcee Mathilda ‘Tilly’ Donner.NEW AND NECTARINES is a light and easy read; a story of desperation and betrayal, secrets and lies, family and friendships. The premise is entertaining with all the usual cozy mystery elements; the characters are diverse and desperate.

Tilly Donner is a reporter for a small town in California called Oak Peak. Her neighbor has a nectarine farm that has gone up in smoke. Being the only reporter in town it is up to her to find out what happened. Oh and also one of her other neighbors has been murdered, and she just happened to find the body. She is off to solve his murder mystery, and also get to know the hot new neighbor along the way. Great start to a wonderful new series by an awesome author. Can't wait to read the next book.
