About this eBook

Two happily-married firefighters must deal with the rigors and responsibilities of a new baby in their relationship.

Firefighter Annie Ferris O’Shea has it all: an idyllic marriage to her high school sweetheart, an exciting career and a circle of devoted friends. But when she has a child, everything changes.

Colin O’Shea is a traditional good guy who sees things in black and white. He adores his wife—hell they’ve been together since he was sixteen—but the addition of a new baby complicates their relationship.

They fight! They end up in bed! And nothing’s solved. Colin’s frustrated and Annie’s disgusted at what’s become of them. The Sisters of Fire babysit her daughter and take Annie on nights out, but they can’t make these two see eye-to-eye. The O’Shea’s marriage is in jeopardy.

When any kind of compromise seems doomed, will Colin and Annie have to face the end of their marriage?

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This is the third book of the series. A group of women went through the fire academy together and formed a life-long support group. They call themselves Sisters of Fire. Each book is about a different woman and her struggles with not only being a female firefighter but struggles in her personal life. While each book if focused on a different woman, the others make multiple appearances. I would highly suggest that the books be read in order to fully understand the dynamics of the group. Colin and Annie have been married since she graduated from high school and both became firefighters. After 10 years of being happily married, they now face some serious issues. They welcomed Bridget, their baby girl, into their lives. Annie is struggling with being a new mom and having to do all of the parenting by herself as Colin works part-time at his family's garage. They have both worked a full-time job plus a part-time jobs as well. She wants Colin to spend more time with their daughter as time is slipping away and he is missing out on Bridget's daily changes. Due to his past, Colin has financial issues and saves every penny for the future. Annie wants to open the purse strings a little so she can take another two months of unpaid maternity leave. Adding to the strain on the couple, Colin is jealous that there is a famous author (Brent) that joins in the playgroup that Annie takes Bridge to several times a week. Colin feels that Brent may take Annie away from him. While this is not your typical romance book as the couple is already married, it is great to read a story that really shows the struggle and work that goes into making a marriage work. I adored reading about this couple and look forward to the next book. The only downside to me was where. Annie had a few beers while she is still breastfeeding. I will admit that times have changed and maybe these days that is fine but that still bothers me.

4 Star reviews of No Easy Choice (Sisters of Fire #3) by Kathryn Shay No Easy Choice is the third book in Kathryn Shay's latest series and this was at times an emotional read but one that is realistic and certainly resonates with me. This is firefighter Annie Ferris O’Shea and her husband Colin O’Shea’s story and it was a captivating read and one I quickly became invested in. Having recently had a baby Annie and Colin are struggling with all a new baby entails. Dealing with sleep deprivation, money issues and a wealth of other issues both are having a hard time. Communication is the key and so they decide to seek counselling, a brave move since a lot of couples would just bury their heads in the sand. This is a well written story, a story that is not your normal romance, but realistic. It is a story of love, of facing ones fears and of taking a giant leap of faith. It is a story of sisterhood, when their friends step in to offer them the love and support they need.

We are back with the Sisters of Fire. Stories about six strong females that bonded as they trained together and since then have created a friendship support group that helps them through the good times as well as the bad ones. This time the story belongs to Annie Ferris O’Shea and her husband Colin. These new parents are at odds since the birth of their daughter. Annie is struggling not only in her new role, but also with feelings that Colin is not helping as much as she wants him to, as well as the fact that she wants to extend her maternity leave. Colin in the meantime, feels the pressure on being on less income. Add to that a possible promotion that will occupy more of his time, and the once easy marriage is going through some bumps in the road. Once again, the author gives us real life situations. In this case that of a working mom, not only the changes a new baby brings to them individually, but also as a marriage. Looking forward to the next story in the series. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
