We are agonized by our own sorrow. We can very easily hurt others, but we are ever tender towards ourselves. Why so? Just one reason... we have no faith in our lives. All these years when we live, we do it unfaithfully. Everything we do is with one sole purpose, tremendous selfishness. We come alone and pass alone, still throughout our lives we continuously need company, though we know that nothing lasts forever we count on company. We search for it. Though life is transient we look for everlasting company trying to keep us safe. You gain something only when you offer something. Sometimes, you have to offer yourself to find something which is eternal. Unless, this is done you cannot find tranquility and each one has to find on his own...`
‘पाहिलंस, मिलिंद, माणूस अंतर्मुख होण्याला केवढा भितो, ते? दुसऱ्याच्या दु:खाकडे तो निर्विकारपणे पाहू शकतो. त्याच्या दु:खाची छाननी करू शकतो; पण स्वत:चं परीक्षण करताना मात्र तो व्याकुळ होतो. दुसऱ्याच्या जखमेवरची पट्टी चारचौघात त्याला बेदरकारपणे काढता येते; पण स्वत:च्या जखमेवरची पट्टी दूर करण्याच्या कल्पनेनंही तो कासावीस होतो...‘याचं कारण? ‘कारण एकच... जीवनावरची अश्रद्धा. जीवन जगण्यात असलेला प्रामाणिकपणाचा अभाव. सारेच व्यवहार स्वार्थप्रेरित. मानव एकटाच जन्माला येतो आणि त्याला शेवटी एकटंच जावं लागतं, तरीही त्याला आयुष्यभर सोबतीची आवश्यकता असते. ही सोबत तो शोधीत असतो. आयुष्य क्षणभंगुर आहे, हे माहीत असूनही, चिरंतन, शाश्वत प्रेमाचं ठिकाण त्याला हवं असतं; पण हे सारं स्वत:ला सुरक्षित राखून...‘दिल्याखेरीज काहीच मिळू शकत नाही. स्वत: हरवल्याखेरीज काही गवसत नाही. हे हरवण जो शिकला, त्यालाच ती शांती, ते समाधान मिळू शकेल. मात्र ते ठिकाण प्रत्येकानं शोधायला हवं...’
