एरिक व्हॉन डेनिकेन या झपाटलेल्या संशोधकाने पंचवीस वर्ष प्रयत्न केला आणि लाख मैलांपेक्षा अधिक भ्रमंती करून त्यांच्या वास्तवयाचा मागोवा घेतला. या प्रयत्नात कोट्याधीश व्हॉन डेनिकेन कफल्लक झाला. पण त्याने आपल्या संशोधनावर ग्रंथ प्रसिद्ध केले अन तो पुन्हा कोट्याधीश बनला. परंतु या खटाटोपात मानवाच्या निर्मितीचं रहस्य मात्र उलगडलं नाही. वाडिया महाविद्यालयात आणि सावित्रीबाई फुले पुणे विद्यापीठात सुमारे चाळीस वर्षे प्राणिशास्त्राचे अध्यापन करणारे उर्दू शायर, क्रीडासमीक्षक अशा विविध नात्यांनी परिचित असलेले प्राध्यापक डॉ. सुरेशचंद्र नाडकर्णी यांनी व्हॉन डेनिकेनच्या अफाट संशोधनाचा मागोवा घेत मानवाच्या अनैसर्गिक निर्मितीबद्दल मांडलेल्या कल्पना! - त्याची ही रसपूर्ण, विचारांना चालना देणारी कहाणी.
