About this ebook

Griffin Hargrove

I was CIA elite. Until a terrorist attack stole my arm and most of my hearing. I don’t know what my old boss, Austin Pritchard, is thinking, hiring a broken relic like me. But he trusts me, and that kind of loyalty is a balm to my shattered self-worth.

Sloane is more beautiful than pictures can show, and bruised in ways that can’t easily be seen. No one has told her I’m her bodyguard, but someone better clue her in soon, because she’s spooked. And the longer I watch her, the more I need to protect her.

Sloane Sanders

None of my unspeakable past bleeds through the images plastered across magazines, cosmetics aisles, and the internet. But now, even as I land the biggest job of my career, that past crawls out of the muck.

When you hide everything about who you are, it’s tough to trust anyone. Until six feet of gorgeousness puts his hard-muscled body between me and a nightmare. A nightmare that’s killed once. And if I don’t find it in my damaged heart to trust Griff, I’m next.

Note: The Gone Rogue series is a spin-off from Patricia D. Eddy’s bestselling Away from Keyboard series. It contains a found-family band of special ops brothers, gruff heroes, and second chances. Each book can be enjoyed as a standalone.

The second book in this Gone Rogue series the first been Austin Pritchard story and if you haven't read it then make sure you grab it and close ties to the Away from The Keyboard series which is my all time favourite series and whose characters always make cameo visits in Patricia books this is a book that will draw you in and keep you engaged until the last page. We have two extremely damaged people Griffin Hargrove seriously injures in a terrorist attack in Pakistan while saving Austin Pritchard's life he has lost his hearing and his left arm and no longer believes that he is worth anything in life No matter how much modern technology and he has the most cutting edge prosthetic he doesn't believe he has any real future especially as he thinks that Austin has ghosted him When Austin calls him wanting him to do a security job to protect a world class model Sloan Sanders from her past. A past no one knows but a past that makes her feel she is worth nothing Used as a sex slave when she was a young Russian woman she has hidden her past but now it has returned to haunt her. Can two people so damaged find a future together and realise that in fact together they make the perfect whole Once again Patricia characters live up to her motto of "Beautifully Broken"

Frankly, if I could have given this book more than 5 stars, I would have done so. Griff’s story, from the explosion that cost him his hearing and arm to the closing pages and resolution, is one that makes the reader think deeply about the things they rely on and the assumptions they make. And, with her past and her courage, Sloane is perfectly matched. This is a book that is richer if you’ve read Patricia Eddy’s other work (Dax is here, for example), but it’s a complete standalone as well. The pure evil of the man chasing Sloane, the courage she shows every day, the strength of character Griff displays – this book is gripping, the characters are real in a way many authors’ aren’t, and there is a sense of loss when you get to the end.

A story full of heart with both Griff and Sloane trying to move past their own hurts and pasts. I loved their connection and the way the author brings their relationship front and center while keeping us in suspense as well. A story that had me riveted and glued to my screen until the end.
