For a while it looks as if things are going to take a turn for the better; but then disaster strikes again. Trapped in a crate, Pearl and Wilbur are loaded aboard an ocean liner bound for France. Frank Asch was born in Somerville, New Jersey, and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Cooper Union. He is the author and illustrator of many fine picture books; Pearl's Promise, first published in 1984, marked his debut as a novelist; Pearl's Pirates is the sequel.
