Marauders took Alegria while she was fishing. Her brother Wade goes to rescue her and although he frees her, he is caught and kept in her stead. He makes friends with fellow slave, Kei. He is brutally raped and punished by multiple men for the amusement of Aiden, the leader. But this also stirs new feelings in Wade and he comes to like the pain and pleasure. Wade saves Cydale from Skandi fever and when Aiden starts to get it, they go to get more root to make a cure and Alegria rescues Wade. I liked the ending.

Interesting bit of a M/M read for me, with an ending I didn't see coming. This is actually my 2nd time reading this story, and I loved it even more this time around. In my opinion, when Wade's sister is kidnapped and he tries to rally his clan to go after the marauders, it reflects on how society is right now. When Wade rescues his sister and gets kidnapped himself, the amount of hurt that is inflicted on him made me cry. There were parts that I don't necessarily agree with, but this is my favorite story of this series. Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The story is short as are the others in this series so it's hard to truly enjoy the story itself but be warned that the content may be triggering. It's a slave/master(s) story where Wade is captured in trying to rescue his sister. He is taken advantage of among other things. I don't know that there is enough to truly appreciate the characters.
