Stories by V.K. Joshi are not just realistic but are based on true incidences. Readers realise that truth is often miraculous than the imagination. Till now, the police have been portrayed in a comical, satirical or perverted manner. Believing it we tend to ignore the fact that reaching the roots of crime is in fact, not limited to the law and judiciary department. Rather, it is indeed a social responsibility. Anyone who accepts it has to fulfil it with sincerity and earnestness. The author portrays the picture of officers bearing such qualities. It is a worthy collection of the unseen side.
व.कृ.जोशी यांच्या कथांचे वैशिष्ट्य हे की त्या केवळ वास्तववादी नाहीत तर सत्यघटनांवर आधारित आहेत.त्यामुळे सत्य हे कल्पनेपेक्षाही चमत्कृतीपूर्ण असते,याचा प्रत्यय वाचकांना या कथांमधून मिळतो. मराठी साहित्यात आजवर पोलिसांची प्रतिमा ही हास्यास्पद अगर विकृत अशीच दाखवली गेली आहे. पण गुन्ह्याचा तपास ही कायदेशीर तशीच सामाजिक जबाबदारी आहे. ही पार पाडणारा कार्यनिष्ठ आणि नीतिमानच असावा लागतो. अशा अधिकाऱ्याची प्रतिमा या कथांद्वारे मराठी वाचकांसमोर आली आहे हे निर्विवाद आहे.
