Die Kleider verraten die Jahreszeit: so Anfang September, abgetragener, mühseliger Sommer. Für manche Toiletten war es nicht einmal der erste. Zum Beispiel für die modegrüne der Frau von Ronay und dann für die von Frau Wanka, blau Foulard; wenn die ein wenig überarbeitet und aufgefrischt wird, denkt der junge Tragy, hält sie gewiß noch ein Jahr aus. Dann kommt ein junges Mädchen und lächelt. Sie trägt blaßrosa Crêpe de Chine, - aber geputzte Handschuhe. Die Herren hinter ihr schwimmen alle durch lauter Benzin. Und Tragy verachtet sie. Er verachtet überhaupt alle diese Leute. Aber er grüßt sehr höflich mit etwas altmodisch betonter Artigkeit.
About the author
Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926) war ein österreichischer Autor. Neben seinen Erzählungen schrieb er auch viele Gedichte. Im Alter von nur 51 starb er an Leukämie.
