About this ebook

When Phoebe Durbin answers a mail-order bride ad, she doesn't realize the groom-to-be didn't post it. Worse, the day she arrives at her destination, she learns he doesn't even want to get married. Having nowhere else to go, she convinces him to give her a chance to prove having a woman cook and clean for him will be the best thing that ever happened to him.

Abe Thomas reluctantly agrees to take Phoebe in, though he doubts they will make a good match. They're much too different. While she sees the best in things, he knows the world is much darker than she can ever imagine. No woman in her right mind would be his convenient wife. He's sure when the stagecoach comes back to town, she'll be the first one on it. After all, two people so completely different can't make a good match, can they?

I love the way Phoebe and her Mother wanted to help Abe to protect his land. Instead of just sitting back and letting Abe do all the work protecting them they both learned to shoot a gun and how to take care of themselves and the animals.

First time romantic novel reading by this particular author, Ruth Ann Nordin which is centered around the main characters Abe, half breed and Phoebe, innocent Ohioan who decides to become a mail order. Phoebe answers an ad sent by Abe's half brother as a distraction to a dispute over a stream and 20 acres of land. Abe learns finding true love is worth more than any piece of land. Highly recommended reading and can't wait to see what happens in the sequels.

the text is worth the effort. The first few pages promised a romantic adventure filled with the promise of the enjoyment of discovery. However the type was copied instead of printed which made the text unable to be enlarged by the app enlargement. When I use the system magnifier, the text is blurred making reading difficult.. Therefore, I am disappointed not to be able to enjoy reading this story.. After much trial and error, I have been able to find a way to magnify the print of the text to enable me to read the copied pages, after which I enjoyed the story line and the characters portrayed therein. So much so that I have added the other three .books in the series to my Library. It is unfortunate that the quality of the text of these additional books is of the same sad quality. However . I am hoping that the story is equally as enjoyable to make the struggle to read it worth while.I intend to address the publisher and/or the ebook producer concerning this problem.
